Letter from the Chair - August 22, 2021

The world is forever changed with the Covid-19 pandemic. Just when we thought it would be safe to go out, the Delta variant arrived. Make sure you are taking precautions, whether you are vaccinated or not and take a moment to check in on family and friends. Safeguard your mental health too. For that, we offer many ways to participate safely in many of our LD1 Dems activities.

Get involved! Put your name in the hat!

It’s simple. Sign up to be a PC—Precinct Committee Person. You will be joining a team of people in your area who are committed to sharing information about issues and candidates with like-minded neighbors. We will soon be doing this via door knocks and literature drops. While we will provide materials and direction, you can be your own boss and spend as much time as you are able getting Democrats elected.

School board meeting mania - volunteer leader needed

Sign up to attend local school board meetings. As you may have heard, some meetings have been disrupted by conspiracy activists bent on inserting their own extremist ideas into school curricula. We are looking for a leader to convene a group of parents and concerned citizens to attend these meetings and submit constructive comments. It is important to outnumber the fanatics. Please contact us if you are interested at ld1@maricopadems.org.

LD1 Dems liaison needed for MCDP Voter Registration Committee We are also seeking a liaison for the MCDP Voter Registration Committee (VRC). The purpose of this committee is to build a robust infrastructure to coordinate county wide voter registration drives and educate citizens about down-ballot voting. Liaison responsibilities would include attending monthly meetings, join voter registration drives in LD1 and help recruit others, and help coordinate voter registration trainings for LD1, provided by the VRC. If you are interested in learning more, contact ld1@maricopadems.com.

I saw the sign! LD1 Dems Adopt-a-Road is official

Carefree Highway between 24th and 32nd Streets now has two shiny new signs to show that it is now sponsored by Maricopa County Democrats LD1. Our fall Community Clean-up event will be announced soon. It is a great way to get outdoors and mingle safely with other members of our community.

LD1 Dems Meeting Recap & Future Plans

Thanks to all who attended our first hybrid in-person and virtual monthly meeting. Over 50 people attended to hear AZ Representative Reginald Bolding (D-27) speak about his campaign for Secretary of State.
